Patch Work Quilt
This picture is from late 19th
century and found it from the Brooklyn museum link. This is a 2D photography with secondary and tertiary colors. There
are several different principles of designs seen in this drawing that represents
composition of art. There are many things that make unity. Lines make V shapes
inside of all squares which represents the unity. The all square shapes are
also represents unity. I also see the verity in the artwork. The colors and
shades all over the works are closer but somewhere it looks different. In some places the artist made Monochromatic/ Achromatic color shade. There
is a rhythm in the art. Is does not seems like quite. The repetition of shapes,
colors and lines make it rhythmic. If there is any focal point exists, it would
be the middle square, but it does not really seem like that. It’s like in the
eye level viewpoint. When I see the image my eyes are moving all over the place.
They do not focus in one place. The artist did not emphasize in specific point.
It also has visual weight of elements meaning that the art is asymmetrical because the
two sides of the image do not correspond to one another in size and placement
and it would not be a mirror image if it was divided in half. There is proportion
in this art too, because the proportion means size relationship between two or
more items or itself. I can refer the size of V shapes as proportion. Finally, it
is a great artwork, which presents huge design principle.
Sumsad- you did a great job here, however please be careful with the terms- this is not photography, it's a quilt- we can talk about this to make this distinction clearer. Also a little later you call it a drawing- this is not a drawing. But, you did identify the design priciles well and seem to show an understanding of them.
