The piece of art I chose is called Stone Breaker, Le Raincy by Georges-Pierre Seurat. This piece of art is a drawing and it's from the Museum of Modern Art. In this drawing there is a lot of different kinds of shading. In the lower left corner the shading is really dark and heavy. Also the rest of the ground seems to be shaded in but more lightly then the lower left corner. The buildings on the side of the drawing have been shaded in darker than the one's in the middle. The drawing clearly has so many different lines just about everywhere. On the lighter areas right over the top of the buildings, I can see the parallels lines the start out light but as I look towards the top of the drawing it beings to have more parallel lines added to it to give it a darker shade. I can also see the parallel lines made on the darker buildings. Once again coming back to the ground of the drawing it's the darkest shaded area of the drawings. The ground seems to be cross hatching used by parallel lines that were used over and over again to create the dark shading. The artist also used the rule of odds, there is only three people in the drawing seen and a pattern of using the parallel lines repeatedly.
