Blog #5

I got this medium off The Metropolitan museum from Georges Braque The Studio ( Vase before a window) 1882-1963, Paris. This oil painting is form of geometric, therefore the image in the painting are not realistic and are distorted. Looking at the painting we can see some items in the image that is obvious to our eyes of what the item can be such as the chairs, tables, windows and sky, but the whole painting overall we can really see it clearly in a realistic view because that's not how those things really look in real life. I believe the reason why the artist Georges Braque reason for choosing to create this painting the way he did was so we can see the world in a different way more like a fun way than realistic and obvious. I believe he probably wanted us to be able to move our eyes around and try make us see differently like the way he does. By us looking at this painting we can see that Georges Braque is very creative with the way he chosed to paint the geometric shapes and distortion apart from how the image would really look in real life. He also uses vibrate colors to create his piece which makes the items in the painting pop out more. When we take a look at this painting we can see he used rhythm on the sides of the painting with the repetition of the yellow colors on the right and the blues on the left.

  1. Great image and description- BUT do you see a figure in this painting? I don't! The assignment was to pick an artwork with a FIGURE, write about the figure's style and answer why do you think the artist chose to paint the figure in this way? that was part of the assignment.
