Homework Assignment #2

                                                                           "Fiery Sky"

This was a picture taken by my cousin when we was at Shore Haven Park in the Bronx on Sunday. This is a photo of accidental art for many reasons. While i was sitting down and looking at the sunset I notice this sunset was art in a creative way. I say this because the sunset looks like a combination of fire and smoke. The color of the sunset includes a primary color which is yellow and a secondary color which is orange. Also it is a 2D photograph that has organic and geometric shapes. The clouds are organic shapes because they have a weird shape of their own. However, the buildings are geometric shapes because they each have different rectangular, triangular and square shapes. In the photo there seem to be some negative and positive space. For example, the buildings are the dominant objects which is the positive space and the sunset is the negative space. There is also some monochromatic coloring because there are different variations of grey within the clouds and sky. These colors makes the photograph have a mixture of warm and cool colors since it includes a fiery sunset, the sky and water. Not only does this image have coloring but it has value. The value of this photo is combined with light and dark because the sunset shows light and the darkness of the grey clouds, the water and buildings shows dark. On the other hand, the sunset represents a beautiful evening turning into a calmness night with the amazing and unique mix of color of the sky/sunset.

"Dark Night"

This photograph was taken by me two nights ago while I was walking around Chambers street. It is another example of accidental art because the lights stands out from the Freedom Tower and the darkness of the night makes it seem like the tower is invisible. This photo has one main dark color which is black. The negative spacing of the image is the dark sky and the parts of the buildings that doesn't have the lights turned on. There are geometric shapes in this photo such as a square for the sign, a rectangle for the buildings and a combination of rectangles, triangles and circles for the tower. Also there is a pattern with the lights on the tower. For example, at the bottom of the tower there are two rows of windows with lights on then 3 rows with the light on for the side windows and then two rows without any light and then it's repeated again. This is a 2D photograph that has value of dark and light colors. These colors makes the photo look like it was drawn on a black piece of paper with white chalk. On the other hand, seeing an image like this would have people stop and look into it to see what it is since its so dark. A design can be seen as well with the formation of the lights that are on and off which makes the tower look like its incomplete. In other words, this type of photo is art  based on how you see it and what out of all things stands out of it.
