Blue:Is a Beauty of Nature

Deer_overlook

Starry Night over the Rhone by Vincent van Gogh

by Eric Zener

By Pablo Picasso

I went through so many art work and I was looking for the art that i like, then I thought about what I like to see on daily bases and what makes me feel then something flash on my mind that what makes beautiful in our environment and then some things like nature the color blue, and beautiful girls. I chose this arts and going put this art in m building, the early childhood education hall way because children are so sensitive and they like bright color and by seeing this kind of peaceful art I want to give them a positive feeling of life. The audience are everyone who in the college but especially young children.

The theme of my art show is how art can bring a beauty and positive thought in life and society and it can also let us to live a fantasy moment in this hilarious busy developed city about beauty of natural god gifted resources.
The first art it is Deer_overlook and it looks so nice and beautiful it was an oil printing and I like the how artist print the mountains in two sides and the distance is seen in colors of the mountains as we view the landscape further away from the view point from our eye. When painting the landscape furthest back the color is getting lighter and I guess it shows that the like the object gets smaller than artist show the distance in art work. I chose it because it gives me feeling because i was born in Tibet and even though i was so young I can imagine the place and how beautiful it was, everywhere its tree and river and mountain it's really an evergreen. In second art i chose that because I love natural beauty and the peaceful night staring at blue sky with full of shining sky here it is also form of 2D  and there is lots of pattern like the stars and the reflection of light on the that lake. Artist used more cool color than anything else. But think its New Year eve or something and they are celebrating with firework because there is so much light. In this printing foreground is the two people, middle ground is the lake and the background is the houses at back. There is overlapping like the shining star or the firework with sky. In third art I chose that because that is an amazing art work which looks so representational it looks real. I love playing with water and swimming. The relation between all this art is that I think all these artist they all are inspired from beauty of nature, here every one of them recording the beauty of our motherland and the natural beauty and growth and the color blue. The artists used blue in every single of these art and I think just a color can make something so precious and valuable. As i heard color blue symbolize trust, loyalty, wisdom, and heaven and it also beneficial to mind and brain i think its true.

City of Art

Attention!! As of December 12, 2014, an art exhibit will be held in the cafeteria in the M building. I chose that specific place because since a lot of students and staff go there to eat or pass by quick for something, it is a perfect location to place the paintings. As they are eating they end up wandering around and eventually will place their eyes on paintings. The audience here is everyone at La Guardia.
My theme is New York as art. We live in one of the most famous artistic city of the country. New York consists of various elements that makes it a unique work of art. I came up with this idea because New York a lot of different architecture and a lot of different skyscrapers in different shape and sizes. New York has a lot of different locations to visit such as museums, galleries, the Empire State Building and Central Park! We might have visited these places before but other from around the world come to visit these places. This is important because artist paint these paintings to show how beautiful New York is and its diversity. We are lucky to be a part of this.

As the curator of this show I picked these pieces because I wanted to remind us how New York is a beautiful artistic city. All the pieces connect to each other because they are paintings of different places of New York. Different artist painted them at a different time and in a different place and angle. The first painting I chose is by Leonid Afremov. I picked this painting because it caught my eye as soon as I came across it. This painting is in Central Park and it’s raining so the artist uses whitish diagonal to show the raindrops. The people and trees are organic shapes, and the umbrellas and buildings are geometric shapes. The painting has primary and secondary colors such as red, yellow and orange, they stand out the most. Overall the painting has warm colors because of the trees, and the reflection on the floor makes it seem like it was raining and the sun was setting. The floor also looks like a rainbow. The painting also has the rule of odds since there is eleven people in the painting. There is approximate symmetrical. To me the focal point is the couple.
The next painting is by Margo Hiotis, and it is inside Central Park. The path is a curvy line and the painting consists of geometric and organic shapes. The yellow pops out thanks to the green since it is darker. If we were to cut this painting in half it will be asymmetrical. The trees overlap each other and there is relative size scale. To me there is no focal point because everything captures my eye. The third painting is by Tina Cobelle. This painting is of Central Park from a different angel. It is mostly made it up out of different types of green. It is a great example of realistic representational style and the trees and buildings overlap each other. The tree on the left is the foreground and building on the right is the middle ground and the background is the grey, orange and yellow building because to me they seem further away. The last three painting were about a part of New York. The fourth one is a painting of the whole city by Michael Tompsett. The whole is city drawn out; it shows all the different types of building there is so it mostly has geometric shapes. There is primary and secondary colors, it’s like a rainbow. This painting is approximate symmetry and the focal point is the empire state building since it is the highest building. The colors just capture your eyes! The last painting is of the city as well but from a different angle. By M. Blechner. This panting is of the city at night and it is beautiful. It is mostly made it up with geometric shapes and it has analogous colors (bluish and purplish). There is implied light on top of the buildings because they are suppose to have their lights on since it’s dark. The water reflects all the colors and it looks so nice. This painting is abstract but doesn’t loose its sense of realism. It is amazing how New York City is used as a mode. New York is amazingly beautiful and thanks to nature it helps it look more artistic.

Colors of The World: Street Art
This show is going to be about amy artist who make the world their one canvas and make incredible works of street art incorporating their surroundings.
The art exhibition will be located in the atrium in the E building. I chose this place because it is a place that every student here at LaGuardia Community College has access to, it is a place where people are usually rushing to and from places and I think it would be a nice site for everyone to see art all around us.
The theme of this show is street art. Street art can include many things like graffiti, sticker art, video projection and even flash mobbing. The way that I came up with the idea for this art show was that I wanted to show art that incorporated the great architecture of buildings and pair it with a piece of art work. This show is important because it shows people that art work like graffiti that are usually looked as something that is bad and harms the neighborhood are not actually bad but that they enhance the community and does not destroy it.
The first piece in this exhibit was made by an artist named David Walker a man who paints murals all over London. This mural is of a young girl and it is a two dimensional form of art which was made with spray paint. The painting uses primary colors and is an abstract style of art. Second is the painting of the young boy wearing an " I Love Life" shirt, this was made by STMTS a young street artist in Greece. This artist creates large scale drawings on paper and then attaches  them to public walls. This drawing is monochromatic and symmetrical. The third image was made by Colombian street artist Stinkfish and he drew an image of a boy on a wall in  Nepal. I believe that this art work is abstract because it represents the boy using color and shape to alter the real. Next is the work of art that has Popeyes on it, this art was made by artist John Matos and it is located on Houston Street here in New York City, I think that this art shows warm and cool colors as well. Last but not least we have the work of Gabriel Abreu and its a piece of art located in the Dominican Republic, this art work incorporates the trees which represent the guys hair. This art piece shows patterns and it is symmetrical as well. The way that all of these drawings connect to one another is that they are all fairly similar to one another for example they are all located on walls in their communities, they are all of a person whether they are of a fictional character of not. As a curator of this show I picked these pieces because I wanted to show that these works of art are all over the world showing that art is truly universal and can be found everywhere.

MUSIC IS THE ART OF THE SOUL

"Micheal Jackson" By: Leonid Afremov

"The Music" By: Thomas Eakins                                               "The Musicians" By: Leonid Afremov

"Music In Me" By: Alicia Soriano

"See the Music" By: Marianthe Snyder

As a curator I will be hosting this art show in the Atrium in the E-Building because many students go there to study, eat lunch, or just to relax and its a very busy area on campus. Basically the show are for those who loves music, for those who loves art and for everyone who walks through the atrium to have an idea of music art. The theme of this show is to demonstrate the meaning of art in music to those who aren't familiar with art or for those who see art as a boring subject. It's also for other people to experience artwork from different artists and how looking at these music paintings can connect to their own pass or present experiences or their interests in music. I decided to host an art show involving music art because music is known all over the world and many people enjoy different types of music and in my eyes without music there wouldn't be dancers, singers or celebrations. Not only does music make up life but it is an important part in every one's life since we all have our own taste in music that can represent many stories in our lives, our emotions etc. To begin with, I decided to use four different artist's paintings of music which are shown above to explain the art concepts within each painting and how they all connect to each other and the world. The painting on the top is called "Micheal Jackson" by Leonid Afremov and I chosed it since I love Micheal Jackson's music and because it has a combination of multiple colors that can catch people's attention. This piece of work is a 2D painting of Micheal Jackson who was the most famous pop artist in history. His music was known all over the world and became number one hits throughout time. I like how he used bright and dark colors and you can also see the negative and positive space in the painting. He used shape as well which are the circles of different colors around Micheal Jackson. This piece connects to Leonid Afremov other painting located above on the right side corner. They both contain the same theme which is music, the same colors, patterns but the only difference is that the second painting contains a group of musicians, and not a popular pop artist. On the other hand the painting located above on the left side corner called "The Music" by Thomas Eakins is different from the others because it contains a man playing the violin and has more dark colors like black and brown. I decided to choose that painting because when I look at it I can feel the man playing the violin and it gives you the feeling of you actually being there. Additionly i,t has more of positive space than negative space. But it connects to the other ones since it involves a musical instrument, it's a 2D painting and it has the theme of music. Now I want to describe one of the paintings above that caught my attention which is called "Music in Me" located above by Alicia Soriano. I like how she used music notes and a young woman to demonstrate how music can make you feel happy or sad. The colors she used makes the painting stand out more and it can relate to the other two paintings of Leonid Afremov. Lastly, the painting under Alicia Soriano's painting relates to the others as well for a couple of reasons. One reason is because it involves a young child playing an instrument and they all look like they are feeling the moment. The colors in this painting relates more to the the painting called "The Music" because they both have more dark colors than light colors. On the other hand each of these paintings connect to music and how music is fun and interesting to listento since almost everyone in each painting have emotional faces and the colors also demonstrate the mood of each painting. So therefore, these 5 paintings all relate to the theme but are all from different artists with their own opinion of what music is and how they look at it. Out of all these paintings I can say that music wasn't made just for the ears but it was also made for the soul and for people to enjoy it while releasing their personal thoughts.

Honey I shrunk the kids: Large installations

Honey I shrunk the kids: Large installations

As the curator, I’ve design an exhibition based on larger than life installation pieces. Walking into this exhibition will make you feel as if you are the size of an ant in a garden. I am pleased to announce what this entire exhibition entails and to share this spectacular experience with you.  The exhibition will include various installation artists, which participate in creating very large pieces. I have also included artist of different mediums such as sculptures. In this exhibition I will have music playing but only the sounds of nature. Such as birds chirping, the sound of trees moving in the wind, and loud footsteps as if giants where walking above us. This exhibition will take place in the cobble stone court yard located in the main entrance of the E-building. I chose this location within LaGuardia College because of it open space and its purpose is to give the students a relaxing environment to take a nice break in, especially during the warmer months.

Upon entering the court yard the doors will be covered by an installation designed by artists Dan Havel and Dean Ruck. The installation is titled ‘Inversion’, using boards from the outside of the houses they created a large funnel-like vortex running between the two that ends in a small hole in an adjacent courtyard. I believe in first impression and this installation is sure to catch anyone’s curiosity of what’s on the other side. This exhibition will attract anyone that walks by. It will be open to the entire student body as well as faculty and visitors. In order to view this exhibition there will be a donation of your choice required. All donation profit will go into a scholarship fund and given to students who do not have the resources to attend college.

I chose this particular installation in the entrance because walking though it will give the audience the illusion of the “shrinking” process and besides this piece is simply amazing. Do you dare to enter?

The courtyard is of course an outside area but it will be covered with a circus like tent to keep it protected and a bit more intimate. The courtyard also has a stage with steps surrounded leading you to the stage. In this location I will include these figures as shown below. I decided to include these cool ‘Ice Sculptures of Melting Men’ designed by artist Nele Azevedo to really give the audience the illusion of the space created. That we are so small in this universe.

Another artist I chose to include in this exhibition is artist Patrick Dougherty, who designs fantastic sculptures and huts from saplings, branches, and twigs. This piece is titled the Na Hale ‘o waiai, Hawaiian for "Wild dwellings built from strawberry guava." The trees that are in the courtyard will be covered with these installations to look like massive sized trees and again give the illusion of a larger world around us.  The audience will be able to wander through them and enjoy feeling like a squirrel in its home.

The center of the courtyard will include this large interactive installation called “The Cloud”. It was created by Canadian artist Keytiling Brown. “Cloud” is made of more than 5,000 light bulbs, like fluorescent light bulbs and cords. With each donation goal, light bulbs will light up, providing motivation to reach a grand donation in order to see the full tree lit up. This gives an amusing illusion of lightning of cloud.

An installation by artist Crystal Wagner’s will fill the space which she describes as her” latest art installation as a conduit or space between the artificial environment created by our everyday experiences with man-made materials and technology, and the exotic landscapes on the surface of planet earth.”

Also with the exhibition I will include large chairs for students or viewers to sit and relax and take in the wonderful experience. Whether its so study or take a break the student will have a positive space to embrace.

These red chairs are from various artists some are unknown. The last picture is a giant red steel chair that soars 21-feet high and 10-feet wide, and sitting on top of that chair is a 6-foot pony. Titled “The Yearling,” this work of art by by Donald Lipski. As the curator of this show I chose all of these artist and their work simply based on their creativity and the thrill it would bring to the environment and a positive vibe it would give to students who can become overwhelmed.
